AREAS OF APPLICATION
In metrology, fractions of millimeters are naturally important. Due to their high weight-related stiffness and very low thermal expansion, CFRP sandwich rods find their preferred applications in metrology as dimensionally stable scales, probes and on measuring fields.
For example, our CFRP sandwich rods are used, among other things, in the field of photogrammetric measurement technology for various measurement methods and measurement purposes.

PROJECT EXAMPLES
This hand-held probe from AICON 3D Systems uses a support structure made of highly rigid CFRP sandwich rods. The high stiffness means that the stylus is only marginally deformed by hand force. The low thermal expansion ensures a consistent geometry under different measuring conditions. Both effects contribute to very precise measurement results.
The combination of sandwich rods and milled, solid CFRP plates creates an easy-to-handle, lightweight and precise hand-held probe (AICON 3D Systems).
